Halloween 2012

 

Jack had an awesome Halloween day.  It was full of friends and playing and his first trick or treating experience.

 

We started off the day in the costume his dad chose for him this year which was a fisherman.  Needless to say he wouldn't wear his hat & was pretty grumpy everytime I tried to put it on him.

We were planning on heading to the zoo, but becuase of the frigid temps the group changed the venue to Monkey's Playhouse which was an excellent choice.  

Jack was warm and kept himself extremely entertained for a couple of hours.

 After a long nap Jack woke up, watched some Sid the Science Kid (his favorite), and then got ready for his second costume of the day...the lion. This was a repeat from last year (a little short but otherwise fit) and kept him much warmer outside than the fisherman. 

I couldn't believe it, but he just fussed right when I put the headpiece on him but otherwise was content.

Our neighbors Christin & Blakely joined us for some playing and chili before heading to a few houses.

Blakely was the cutest little pumpkin and loved Jack's mane.

 

 

Tyler got home from the hospital right as we were walking out the door, so we were excited.

We only went to about five houses, but Jack did great trick or treating.

He held on to his pumpkin and after one man let him pick up his candy out of the basket Jack decided that's what he would do at the other houses, too (we might have created a monster).

 When we got home Jack proceeded to carry his pumpkin around, show Jake all his candy, and deliver to it to Tyler and I piece by piece.

It was truly such a fun day and makes me realize how much fun holidays like Halloween are and will be for many years to come with a little one around. 

I also love seeing all my family & friends' kids all dressed up & cute as can be!

Halloween Eve

Somehow we ended up with multiple costumes for Jack again this year. 

 

Two new costumes (one we picked for Jack and one to match Jake).

And then we realized we're not in Texas anymore and it is going to be COLD in Nashville so we are recycling last years to keep him warm tonight.

 

Yesterday, we headed to storytime at the library & all the kids wore costumes.  I already had his monogrammed scrubs so I figured he'd be a cute doctor and wouldn't get anything dirty that I'd have to clean for today.

 

 

They had an area to make trick or treating bags before the story & Jack is currently obsessed with markers (dangerous) so we attempted.  He wasn't too good at the trick or treating part afterwards.  We'll see how tonight goes.

We just got back from a playdate and Jack should be napping for a while from all the fun he had.  Pictures from our Halloween today and tonight coming soon!

Cheekwood Pumpkins

Typical (and adorable) pumpkin patch pictures follow...this post might be repetitive of everyone on social media :)

A couple of weeks ago Jack and I headed to the botanical gardens in town, Cheekwood. 
They had an enclosed "Pumpkin Harvest" area where he was able to run around & climb all over the pumpkin displays.  Afterwards, we explored the gardens and had a picnic. 

Jack isn't too into trains right now, but they had a train display set up and he had fun watching it for a few minutes.

And then he stuffed his face for lunch.  We started on the ground but he was too distracted by everything and kept trying to wonder off so we moved to a bench.

We are loving this time of the year and enjoying the weather in Nashville!

This pictures makes me so happy.  He has the biggest smile on his face that you can't really see, but it's an expression of pure joy.

Nothing like rolling around in a bunch of leaves while walking around Vanderbilt campus.

 

My dad came into town for a few days to work on our ongoing handy man list & to do some more painting (thank you dad!).  The house is coming together.  Now if only I had a few thousand dollars to buy a new couch, lamps, side table, chair, & coffee table it would be complete :)....I've been searching high and low for some good deals.  That's a whole other post!

 

Tyler had a day off on Friday and after breakfast, a quick trip to Franklin (some shopping for me, Jack, & my dad & a haircut for Tyler) we headed towards the Vanderbilt campus to give a tour of where Tyler works (aka lives) and the campus.

 

The hospitals (VA, VU, Children's) & campus are right next to each other and just kinda blend in. We walked around for a bit and it was an eery feeling to be back on a college campus on a weekday and see everyone rushing to and from classes & dorms.

 

 

 

I've been around campus a few times with Tyler and when family has visited, but I haven't been in the fall.

It is looking beautiful with all the trees changing and leaves falling. Jack had a great time running around and even got a few hellos from some cute & stylish sorority girls.
