Ear Tubes

It was an early morning for the Bloomer family this morning...we had to be at the surgery center at 5:30am for Jack to get ear tubes.  I didn't mind the early time since Jack couldn't eat after midnight!  The earlier the better and a less fussy baby.  He was pretty happy while we were waiting.  Just like he loves to watch waiters, he also loves to watch nurses.
Looking a bit nervous
They did the procedure about 6:30 and everything went good.  The doctor said one ear had some fluid on it and the other ear was very infected. Of course, sending him off for the procedure and seeing him wake up were the hardest part, but we somewhat knew what to expect since it was so similiar to when he was put under general anesethia for the steroid injection.

I'm excited to have a happy & ear infection free baby in the near future!  They have been infected on and off for so long, he has learned to cope with it and be happy but his hearing should be much better, too.
We had a lazy day with lots of this...

He was pretty fussy off and on (even though they said he should be back to normal), but he did get happy, gave us some smiles, and helped me pack.  He's been very clingy which makes me feel special :)

Jack's 1st Birthday Party - The Details

When Jack was born I knew that the time around his first birthday would be crazy.
Between Tyler's graduation, house hunting, moving, & working full time I don't have much time to party plan and craft, but as the party approached I found myself wanting to put a little bit more effort into some decorating than I had originally planned.

I had lots of fun creating some personalized details & decorations and relied heavily on Etsy for the invitation design, party printables, and a few other things.

Check out the party pics here.

The invitations turned out great thanks to my chubby cowboy...
Jack doesn't like wearing things on his head and this cowboy hat was no exception.
I had to take many, many photos to get this one but my tubby little boy looks so cute!

We hope to use this sign for many birthdays to come!
My mom and I found this Texas shaped basket at a church garage sale for $1
and it was perfect for the favors after a layer of white spray paint.

We had guests sign this photo book of all Jack's monthly pics.
Perfect keepsake for years down the road!

I know I'm going to love looking back at all of Jack's monthly pictures and posts that I've done, but they are time consuming and tiring to do.
Being able to put them all together at his 1st birthday made it totally worth it, though.

Loved that we got to use his "Wanted" poster from The Pineapple School.

Jack was not a fan of his birthday hat but I tried!

Not a Texas party without Blue Bell ice cream!
For the desert table, Tyler's cousin's wife made Jack's smash cake, topper, & cupcakes...
she did such a good job!
We also had Janie make her famous "bars" and
Taylor put together some cowboy s'more pops.

Drink Station - Dr. Pepper bottles, lemonade, & water
My pinterest project for the party were the white chandelier balls hanging from the ceiling.

All of Jack's first holidays!

For food we did good old Texas BBQ.
Sliders with Dickey's chopped beef & Grandy's rolls, pasta salad, bbq beans, chips, & fruit.
Texas sugar cookies for favors.

I had lots of people help me!  Thanks to my mom & dad for opening up their house and helping me with everything.  Also, thank you to Taylor, Janie, & Jessica for all their help & delicious food.
The day was such a success and celebration of our 1 year old Jack!

Jack's 1st Birthday Party

We had one heck of a time at Jack's first birthday!  Sure, he might not have known the party was for him or why there were so many people at my parents' house but he sure enjoyed it and had fun.
When we found out we were moving to Nashville we decided to do Jack's party in Plano so many of our friends and family could see him one more time before the big move.  We loved having all our family and friends around to celebrate Jack.  Thanks to everyone who came!
We threw Jack a Texas style shin-dig before he becomes a Tennessee boy.
You can check out all the details here
We made sure to have all the Texas staples like BBQ, Dr. Pepper, & Blue Bell.
Jack went down for his 10:00am nap and we had to wake him up at 1:00pm for the party...that does not normally happen.  But it was great for us because we had a happy, well rested baby!

He loves the pretty girls!
With the parents to be and baby girl Dillon
Can't believe my baby's 1!

Jack's 2nd cousin Brooks

Jack got to finally meet Miss Taylor Trampe.  She is such a cutie and while Jack might have been more interested in the grass and crawling, I'm pretty sure they fell in love.
Finally got to meet Uncle Opie...
and the Helffrich's!

Babies unite

Everyone gathered 'round to sing Happy Birthday and I think Jack was real confused.
He also did not like his hat that I tried to put on him.
But he sure was cute.

After we sang, I told him to dig in...and he wouldn't touch the cake!  Tyler and I put his hands in it to see if he'd start, but nothing.  He looked at his hands like he was disgusted they were dirty at first and wasn't so sure about that.  I tried to put some icing in his mouth and still nothing!

He liked some Blue Bell ice cream, though!
My parents got Jack a new truck for his birthday and he had to check out the tires and then took a ride around the party in it.
Check out that license plate!
Some of the family stuck around and later in the day Jack opened his presents and had lots of fun playing with everything.  He is one lucky little boy and loved hammin' it up in front of everyone (especially in his sunglasses).

Relaxing with Mima after a long day.

Worn Out!
Jack is truly blessed to have so many people who love him.  It's a day we'll never forget...and one Jack might not remember, but we'll have lots of memories and pictures to share with him.
Happy 1st Birthday, Jack!   We love you more than you'll ever know!
