Jack's Room

When we moved into our Nashville house, Jack's room was the first to be put together.  He has a much larger room than in San Antonio which is excellent for all his toys & books.  I've had these pictures on my camera since the summer so some changes have been made and it is now covered in toys, but I wanted to make sure I documented it.

It is very similar to his nursery, but I tried to update it more towards a "big boy" room and in the direction I know I want his room to go when the crib & rocker eventually leave (tear).  We painted it and I pulled in more dark blues/slate, a new rug, and cubbies with books & storage so he can go & pull books & toys whenever he pleases (which he loves).

His room has two closets which are excellent for clothes & to stash all the baby gear.  The previous owners made one of the closets a desk for their little girl & it is painted in purple chalk paint, which I love.  Eventually, I'd love to revamp it again and let it be Jack's little reading/writing area when he's ready for it.

We have our baby/toddler pictures above Jack's changer & he loves to point at the pictures while we tell them who they are.  Now that he's older they are fun to look at and see who he is resembling most.  What do you think?

Recent Recipes

After being in a cooking "funk" I've started trying some new recipes, again. Everytime people see Tyler after a few months they comment on how skinny he is. I promise I feed him, but he works alot so I need to keep him well fed at home! Here are a few I've tried recently & have been pretty successful.

Olive Garden Pasta E Fagioli Copycat Soup - Definitely cut the recipe in half & ty said less diced tomatoes.
Baked Parmesan Chicken - One of my go to dishes with veggies & a pasta salad

Recent iphone pics

Since the craziness of the holidays and travel has died down we've been relaxing and getting back into the routine.  It's been cold most days but we've had a few days where there was a glimpse of spring and we were able to get out and go for a run and play in the yard.  There's also been snow & rain.  Such drastic changes so quickly.

We've had lots of indoor activites & have been trying to keep Jack occupied & entertained.
Here's a sampling of iphone pictures from lately.

He loves to climb on everything.

Dad took a trip to Gymboree with us on a random Thursday off & then we headed to the Loveless Cafe for lunch.

Cold weather indoor entertainment = playing at the mall & storytime at the library

His recent loves are building blocks, trains, Thomas the Train, & anything Curious George.

About two minutes after I layed him down for naptime one afternoon...this NEVER happens.

 Watching tv from his desk.

Tyler & I took our first trip to the Bluebird Cafe.

We had two mornings of snow in a row. This is the second & Jack is pointing to go inside where he wanted to be.

Playing with his busy box.

He decided to eat his cereal out of Jake's water bowl one day.

Our friends & neighbors, Christin & Luke, had their little boy, Remington, a few weeks ago.
We were lucky enough to keep Blakely one morning when Christin ran him to the doctor & Jack had lots of fun.  Blakely is crawling & Jack decided he wanted to regress & crawl, too.

Jack showing off his new animal collection he got for Valentine's day.  I told him to give the elephant a kiss & this is what he did.

 Loves the ipad.

The Ducks

The Bloomer's made a trip to Nashville to deliver our fourth family member, Jake, back to us after we left him in Plano at Christmas for a minor surgery by Dr. B.

Jack was very excited to see his grandparents & have his dog home.  He repeatedly shouted "dah" (his word for dog) and has not stopped since.

Tyler had one day off while they were in town so we headed to breakfast & to feed the ducks at Centennial Park before Jack's nap.

Happy Valentine's Day

We hope everyone has a great day filled with smiles & love!

All the small holidays are lots of fun with Jack around.  Previous years, I was running around the day before grabbing cards & gifts, but without working full time I have alot more time to bake & cook & be festive.  We made sugar cookies for Jack's teachers & Tyler's favorite cupcakes.

Jack made us a Valentine at school and at the library.

He loved all the cards & gifts from us & family.

A Valentine from Jack's new cousin, Grits!

Every year I love to look back at the blog & see what Jack was like & what we did a year ago.
Last Valentine's Day Jack was in the the middle of his steroids for his hemangioma & boy was he a chunker!  I barely recognize him!
