Madelyn - 11 months

Size:
You weigh about 20 pounds and are wearing size 12 month clothes.  You are wearing size 4 diapers.

Sleep:
You are finally falling into a predictable sleep pattern & “sleeping through the night” consistently.  You are still napping twice a day although your morning nap is normally pretty quick.  You go to bed around 7:30pm and sleep until about 7:30am, with the random wake up at 6am but you will cry and then eventually fall back asleep.  You are very good about putting yourself to sleep when I put you in your crib awake.

Activities:
You are still into everything.  You love to climb and want to be in whatever room we have blocked you from.  You crawl at a lightening speed and pull up on anything and everything.  You are cruising but haven’t shown much interest in standing on your own or walking on your own just yet.

 Food:

You eat everything! Doesn’t matter the color, shape, or taste. Of course we make sure that the pieces are small enough for you to eat, but you have pretty much tried everything and normally eat about half of your brother’s meal when we go out.  You still only have 2 teeth  but that doesn’t stop you!

New Things:

You have continued to pick up speed in the crawling department and have starting climbing.  You are cruising more and have started walking when we hold your hand.

You love to make all kinds of funny sounds with your mouth…whether it be blowing bubbles, “purring,” or rolling your r’s.  Dad likes to sometimes call you “Wookiee” from Star Wars because of the sounds you make.

You are VERY vocal.  We’re working on some sign language with you because you are trying so hard to communicate with us but it really is just a series of louds screams and yells out of frustration.

For the first time you took a round trip flight to Dallas and did not sleep AT ALL on the plane…this made for one stressed out mamma.  You couldn’t get comfortable and wanted to be everywhere.  I really miss when you would just sleep in the ergo all flight but you are growing up and want to see everything that is going on around you.

Jack's 3rd Birthday Party

Jack had a successful 3rd birthday party celebrating with great friends and family!

So many of his favorite people were there and he was surrounded by planes, which obviously makes him very happy.

The party included Jack's 2 requests: planes and ice cream!
We did an ice cream sundae bar with cake & cupcakes, which he loved.

The day of Jack's party a cold front moved through so it was a cool, overcast spring day but luckily the rain stayed away!  He also woke up a little bit under the weather but was feeling better by the time his party started in the afternoon.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Jack!
Thank you to everyone who was able to celebrate with us and we missed those of you who couldn't!

Madelyn - 10 months

We’ve got a firecracker on our hands.  “Miss Thang” is into EVERYTHING…and pretty much everything she shouldn’t be.  I’ll go ahead and say her favorite things to play with are the outlets & cords & the other day I found her on top of the toilet.  I wish her favorite things were the thousands of baby toys I have been trying to get her to play with.  Oh…I should add that she also loves any toy her brother is playing with but that definitely doesn’t make him happy.  She is growing so fast & makes us smile a little bit bigger every day.  As cliché as it sounds she brings so much joy to us each day…even if it’s been a hard day.

Size:
We haven’t weighed you since your 9 month appointment so you are probably around 20 pounds.  You are wearing mostly 12 month clothes & we are loving your chunky legs…they are in full baby effect.  You are in size 4 diapers.  We took you to have your feet measured and you they put you in size 3.5 shoes.

Sleep:
It has been a good month for sleep and you are starting to get the hang of it.  It is very rare that you wake up before 5am, anymore (unless it’s a cry for a few minutes).  You have slept through the night several times until 7am.  If you wake up to eat before 7am you will normally go back to sleep until about 8am.  You are still taking two naps a day.
Activities:
Your main activities are constantly moving & eating.  You are crawling everywhere, pulling up on everything & anything, and started to cruise a bit.  You will play with a toy for a minute and then you immediately move on.  You love to play in the bottom of the refrigerator. I still put you in the jumper for a few minutes at a time when I need you contained in the house & after fussing you will enjoy it.  You also love to clap…it has been your talent that you show off to everyone!

Food:
You eat EVERYTHING!  Literally, I don’t think I’ve put a food in front of you that you won’t eat.  You are eating pretty much all “solid” food just torn into little pieces.  You eat turkey, chicken, beef, vegetables, fruit, and you love puffs.  You freak out if we are eating ice cream and lunge towards our food all the time J.  You are still EBF but you are starting to wean yourself and I think prefer solids foods over milk in general.

New Things:
Your eating has definitely taken off and you will eat everything!  Often, you will share with your brother when we are out to eat & you eat more of his meal than he does!

You love to clap & I’m pretty sure you think clapping means more because you do it lots in your highchair.
You are a daredevil.  You want to climb & go over & under things.
You are impersonating and repeating sounds/words more and more.
You drink water out of a sippy cup & are pretty good at it!

Jack & Madelyn meet The University of Texas

During our trip to Texas we (or I) introduced Jack & Madelyn to the University of Texas!

First stop one day was by the Chi Omega house with Madelyn.  We took a few pictures outside & an active studying in the foyer opened the door & let Madelyn & me check everything out.  I have so many memories & spent so much time there that it was surreal to be back with my daughter (and legacy). We looked at my old composites and were able to go upstairs, see the rooms, and meet some of the girls.

Later in the weekend we headed to campus to let Jack run around & see his future college :)

Clearly Jack is already a rule follower....
