Jack is TWO

My baby boy is TWO.

I can say all the cliché things right now, but it really does just seem like yesterday that he was born and it literally seems like 10 minutes ago that we were having his first birthday.  This year has flown by and he has turned into a little toddler with an opinion and lots of boyish ways.

We had all the family around to celebrate his birthday weekend and after having his party on Saturday, his real birthday was on Monday.

Good Morning Birthday Boy!

Aunt Taylor & I were the only ones at the house when he woke up & I made him some mickey mouse pancakes for breakfast.  This was also the one successful time that he blew out the candle himself!

Tyler had to work, but the Bloomer's & my parents headed to our house and we decided a trip to the park & a picnic were probably what Jack would be happiest doing & we were right.  Jack loved running around (literally...he ran the entire time) & would barely sit still to eat.
It was a day off for me because his grandparents chased him around!

The Bloomer's flew back to Texas that afternoon and Jack did not want to go down for his nap (he could definitely feel the excitement in the air & did not want to sleep).

When dad got home from work we ordered pizza in for dinner (definitely a Jack approved meal) & Jack loved opening his presents.  He was ripping them open left & right, cards included.

We sang happy birthday & celebrated him once more.  I'm pretty sure he knew it was a special day with the attention all on him!

He got a lot of new trains & tracks for his birthday and he carries them everywhere!  He also got one of his big gifts when we got back from Florida and that was his train table...this kid is obsessed.

We loved having the Taylor, Jeff, the Bloomer's, & my parents in for the weekend. It made it super special for Jack.  Here are a few more pics from the weekend & playing around in the front yard.

2 YEAR CHECK UP & STATS
We had Jack's two year check up with his doctor about a week after his birthday.  We were blessed to not have to see a doctor in between his 18 month well visit & his 24 month well visit but there was ALOT to cover.  I was a bit overwhelmed.

Your comprehensive skills are excellent but your expressive skills are lacking for your age so we are moving forward with evaluation and speech therapy.  You are constantly talking to us, but we still aren't sure what you are saying besides your go to words and sounds.  You are super smart and follow commands excellent, but life will hopefully become a bit more easy when you can tell us what you are feeling/thinking/wanting and we are able to answer directly to questions that you have.  You still sign all done, more, please, and thank you.

Your ear tubes are no longer in place.  The pediatrician pulled out one and the other is in your canal.

We are working on your eating habits.  Right now you would eat PB&J for every meal, but you refuse meat & veggies.  You love all fruit and pretty much anything sweet or if it's a carb & snacky.  As of your appointment we are really going to start working on offering you only what we eat for dinner and getting you to try new veggies & meat.  You might not be happy about it but we hope it pays off in the long run!

Sleep is another topic we discussed.  You still take one excellent nap a day (please don't ever let this stop!) from about 1-3.  You sleep through the night about 4 or 5 of 7 nights and the other nights you might wake up once & we have to let you know that you are there before you'll go back to sleep.  You pretty much cry every time we put you to bed.  You would rather be rocked & cuddled & not alone, but with little sister coming along we are working on just placing you in your crib after bath, books, & prayer.  You eventually put yourself to sleep & dad checks on you when you are having trouble.

You weigh 27 pounds and are still measuring short on the percentage scale.

You love trains, Curious George, coloring, going to the park, swinging, and running around the yard.  You are adventurous when it comes to climbing, but cautious when it comes to new things (just like your momma) like the ocean or going down a big slide on your bottom.  Thank goodness your separation anxiety is gone & you love to go to school & the nursery & play with other kids, but you are still so excited when I pick you up.  Your blankies or trains are your security and you love to always have something in your hands (or 5 trains for that matter).  You currently sleep with about 4 or 5 blankies in your bed and you love to carry one around the house and often into the car, but as long as it is an aden & anais you are not picky which one.

You and your dad truly are my everything and I love you more and more each day.  I cannot wait to see you as a big brother and how you change and grow in this next year of life!
