It was incredibly hard for Tyler to go four weeks without seeing Jack. He wasn’t around for this fourth month of his life and it was so interesting to hear what all Ty thought had changed about him when he saw him again. Jack is obviously physically bigger, but his body control & cognitive funciton have also changed so much. I answered the door to surprise Tyler with Jack on my hip and Tyler hadn’t ever seen that. He was still a bit wobbly before we went to Hawaii, but now he is in full control until he gets very tired. Jack reaches for toys and grabs them with intent. He rolls and grabs his toys to make them make noise and so he can feel them. It really is amazing to see how fast they develop and change in their first year of life.
Sleep
You are still on a similar sleep schedule to last month. You continue to take cat naps and 1 to 2 long naps at daycare (1.5-2 hours). You fall asleep in your swing most evenings around 7 and will start to stir about 9:30. I normally take you upstairs to change you into your pj’s if you are not already in them and feed you and put you to bed. You wake up anytime between 4:30 and 6:30am to eat and then go back to sleep until around 7:30. You sleep in your footed pj’s every night now and are so adorable!
Eating
You eat 6.5-7oz about 5-6 times a day. You also eat rice cereal once a day and seem to really enjoy it and took to eating with a spoon very easily. You are still on majority breastmilk, but have a bottle of formula before bed (since mom isn’t keeping up with your demand while pumping at work) and if you are away from mom for a long period of time.
Size
You are currently about 15 pounds. You are still wearing size 1 diapers, but pretty much only because mom has a very big supply of size 1 so we’re trying to use them before we head to size 2. You are wearing size 3 month and 6 month clothes. You are between sizes and have outgrown some of your 3 month clothes and the size 6 months are still a bit big on you.
You Love
Grabbing and feeling toys, making your toys make noise, plaing in jumparoo (rolling the ball), jungle gym, your mobile, singing songs, sitting in your bumbo, “watching” tv (especially football), playtime during your bath
New things
You are much more physically stable than previously. I can sit you on my hip and you love walking around with me and looking at everything. You have excellent head control.
You sat in your jumparoo for the first time this month and are very entertained. Your feet still don’t touch the floor so you’re not doing much jumping, but will move around and bounce a bit.
You grab things with intent now and reach out to make things move & make noise. I have had a toy on your carseat handle since you were born and you just realized it was there for you to play with and not just look at so now you reach out and grab it & feel it all the time when you’re bored. You also can hold a rattle and move it around to make noise.
You have just started blowing raspberries although no spit comes out (you’re just blowing air out of your mouth with your lips closed). You think you are very funny when you do it.
You took a day roadtrip to Houston and met baby Kate Conner when she was 2 weeks old & also met mom & dad’s friend Brandon.
You experienced your first big thunderstorm when Marshall grandparents were taking care of you in San Antonio (there was a tornado in south SA). There was also a 4.6 earthquake Southeast of SA that mom felt while laying in bed (you slept right through it).
You spent your first night alone with Aunt Taylor while mom was at a work meeting in Austin.
You are still smiling like crazy and have started giggling when you are really happy.
You started eating rice cereal once a day and sat in your high chair for the first time.
We love our growing boy and those chubby cheeks are irresistable!
