Madelyn - 2 months

Madelyn is growing like crazy.  We are loving having two kids and Jack is so sweet to his baby sister.  He always greets her and is concerned when she cries.  He has also mastered giving her a paci when she is crying and often runs to her room to grab another.  I know there will be fights in their future but I am excited to see their relationship grow as they get older and I'm pretty sure Jack loves having a friend around 24/7.  Every child reacts differently to a new sibling but so far he has been loving and his same old 2 year old self.

Sleep:
You are overall a great sleeper.  I can normally tell right away when you start getting fussy that it is time for your nap.  During the day you are still napping in the swing, rock ‘n play, or on the go in your car seat.  I have not felt like I need to put you in your crib or bassinet quite yet for naps since you are sleeping good during the night.  We try to follow eat, activity, sleep and that is normally how your routine is going.

At night, you have still been sleeping in your bassinet in the nursery.  We have tried you in the crib a couple of times and hope to have you fully transitioned to the crib in the next week.
You are still great at putting yourself to sleep after your 9:00 feeding.  I put you down “drowsy” and you wiggle and eventually fall asleep (this is AMAZING compared to your brother…I always read in the books that is what you were supposed to do but this was just not possible with your brother).  You are moving more consistently to a 6 hour stretch after the 9:00pm feeding so you eat around 3am and then again around 6:30 or 7:00am.  Sometimes you will even go back to sleep for a bit after your morning feeding.
 Eating:
You are still eating every 2.5-3.5 hours during the day.  You are a great eater but still spit up lots.  You are gaining weight like you should (1/2oz to 1oz per day).

Sizes:
You are wearing size 1 diapers.  You have outgrown your tiny newborn clothes and are wearing 3 month sleepers and clothes everywhere from 0-6 months.   At your 7 week appointment you were 10lbs 13oz (55%), 22” long (48%), and head circumference 15” (63%).  I also measured your hair and it is over 2” long (you pretty much have a mullet since it so long in the back).

Activities:
You love to exercise under your play gym and look at all the lights & listen to the music.  You also enjoy being in the swing and watching your brother play.  You give the greatest smiles when we talk to you and tickle you.

New things:
You are now smiling! We love to try and make you smile as much as possible.  You had your first round of shots and cried & spit up afterwards, but soon calmed down.  You were a bit more irritable the rest of the day, but otherwise had a normal day.

Routine: We normally start the day anywhere between 6:30 and 8.  Your brother loves to greet you when I get him out of bed.  You are very active in the mornings and are content exercising and having tummy time on your blanket or play gym.   You go with me to take Jack to school on Tuesday/Thursday and often run errands with me right afterwards.  On other days you often get a bath mid morning and then take a nap.  Again, you eat every 2.3-3 hours (about 7 feedings a day) and have your last feeding around 9 at night.

The big brothers also wanted to join in for some pictures.
