Tyler and I alternate where we stay Christmas Eve and this year we stayed at the Bloomer household. It was another long night with Jack so we didn't get up quite as early as we had hoped.
Jack was pretty miserable Christmas morning. He had a fever and we stripped him down to just his diaper. I tried to open a few of his presents with him, but all he would do was a constant wimper or cry...he just wanted to be cuddled. He spent most of the morning cuddled on dad while we opened presents & ate brunch. Not quite what I had pictured for Jack's Christmas morning, but you never know what's in store and it's a Christmas we'll never forget!
Here's a video of him Christmas morning. He looks so pitiful!
Opening a present with mom
Nothing like multi tasking. Opening presents & chewing on a frozen teether.
Dad played with his toys for him
After we opened presents, ate breakfast, and Jack took a nap for a while we reevaluated what we wanted to do. He still had a fever so we called around to see if any urgent care places were open, which they were not. Ty decided to take Jack to the ER at Children's Medical in Plano. Tyler and Jack were able to see a doctor very quickly and get Jackchecked out, dosed for Advil, and on an antibiotic. They said he had the beginnings of an ear infection, but he had also had alot of congestion the previous few days, and he is teething, too so it might have been a combination of everything!
We headed to my parents house during the afternoon and Jack already seemed to be feeling better slowly. By a couple of hours later he was like a new baby and was almost back to his happy self.
Showing off his photo album from grandma
He had lots of fun playing while we opened presents and was happy enough to open a few presents himself. He went to sleep peacefully and we had a delicious steak dinner with the family.
The grandparents definitely spoiled Jack with gifts this year, but I had fun opening them all! We are so blessed to spend Christmas with family and I cannot wait to see Christmas through Jack's eyes in the years to come. Having a child changes everything and makes it so much fun!
